The Story of The Invisible Plan

These lyrics were so easy to write. I had been listening to a lot of Black Thought’s lyrics and just the power he puts behind them, sometimes you feel like it’s fucking church. When I listen to The Roots How I Got Over, to me, there’s not a better album that is a full affirmation about how tough life is, the internal battles and dialogue about achieving goals, and being your own Fire through it all.

The Invisible Plan came out of being inspired by that, for sure, and imagery I have in mind of what our next full-length album would be about (which I can’t wait to share!). I feel so strong about the Power of the Mind and what we can do if we change our minds.

The only way it seems to make a change anymore is to do it covertly, starting with your Self and then gathering others…guiding your karma and letting shit work its magicactive karma weaponry, so to speak.

The “use the mind as a muscle” – was something that felt important in my life, as I had made a commitment to change my thought process about a year ago. I eliminated the phrase “I DON’T WANT” in my language. I started talking only about what I do want, if that makes any sense. To me, words and thoughts are actual things, actual matter, and if I was saying I don’t want this or that, I’m still attracting it because I’m talking about it. At least it puts me in the driver’s seat of living with less drama.

Things started happening and coming to me and appearing in my life, it was like a “reverse scavenger hunt.” Keeps things exciting for sure.

What is it that you WANT?

This is part of The Invisible Plan.

Ester Segarra

he’s the king of the talk
he’s the cock of the walk
don’t let him go he’s a crime in the room

how did it start, where is your heart? i know how to get the truth out of you.

hey baby, you wanna get up inside of this
I’ll twist your mind like vines you’ll see just what you missed
hey baby from your head to your heart to your jeans
I’m gonna lick u clean

I was the one to turn it around, you were the one who wanted it now, didn’t you?

out of control, deep in your soul
you never thought that you would do it like that
bitten’ the lip, chomping the bit (didn’t say you wanted out of this)
a volcano on the verge of explosion

hey baby, you wanna get up inside of this
I’ll twist your mind like vines you’ll see just what you missed
hey baby from your head to your heart to your jeans
I’m gonna lick u clean

I was the one to turn it around, you were the one who wanted it now, didn’t you?
I was the one to turn it out and freak you down and lick u clean.

hey baby you wanna get up inside of this? i’ll twist your mind’s eye

hey baby, you wanna get up inside of this
my twisted mind will take you to the place you’ve never been
hey baby from your head to your heart to your jeans
I’m gonna lick u

I was the one to turn it around, you were the one who wanted it now, didn’t you?
I was the one to turn it around, and lick u clean
you were the one who wanted it now, didn’t you?
I was the one to turn it around, you were the one who wanted it now, didn’t you?
I was the one to turn it out and freak you down and lick u clean.

you were the one who wanted it now, didn’t you?

The Story of Never and Me

Track 1. Never and Me.

This track was inspired when I read a series of Saul Williams’ tweets, actually (and the song is NOT about him, I do not know him.) He was in the streets of Paris in the middle of the night, alone with his thoughts, and it made me feel like I was there, in this invisible battle that we all have, between what we see, and what we have on the inside. The “me” was more like of what I visualized the overrulling invisible universal force was, observing, that could be our salvation or our destruction. Our choice.

***

it’s 3 a.m. i know where your mind is
somewhere between the thick of the streets
calling in the souls of the blinded
somewhere between never and me

it’s 4 a.m. i know where your soul is
somewhere between the lost and the fallen
it’s climbing in
and calling you slowly
somewhere between never and me

is it safe to leave you alone
with all of your devices and all of your crises
twisted as the fight is
it’s all been decided
and the night will keep you

safe from harm
safe from harm
the space between never and me
is where you find it safe to be

it’s 5 a.m. there’s nowhere to go now
somewhere between
sleep and a dream
the night it fades, a weight off your shoulders
somewhere between never and me

is it safe to leave you alone
with all of your vices and all of your crises
twisted as the fight is
it’s all been decided
and the night will keep you

safe from harm
safe from harm
the space between never and me
is where you find it safe to be

I will keep you safe from harm.

Fear is Afraid of This
(A lyric from “Floating Angels” off The Invisible Plan.)

I remember writing this phrase down sometime when I was in NYC summer 2001. What is the worst fear and how do you make it stop. And I thought, “Make fear afraid that it won’t have power anymore.” I had a visual of that melting witch chick in The Wizard of Oz.

Afraid of failure, afraid of being alone, afraid of the dark, afraid of not having love, afraid of cilantro, afraid, afraid, yippity whathaveyou.

The quote “Worry [fear] is using your imagination for something you DON’T want to happen” I’ve said to myself many times. I’d like to imagine better things. Fear is a teacher. Not an existence.

You could think of continual fear as “unsustainable emotion.” It deters growth. Recycle it as fuel for success. Eco-emotional.

“Fear is afraid of This, Don’t be afraid of This.”

This is part of The Invisible Plan.

KT Live Chicago Album Cover

My god loved the whores and babies
My god never noticed a sin
My god grew and killed the daisies
My god threw the towel in

My god is weird, my god is scared
My god paints a pretty picture of fear
He’s driving in gear.

One day got sick of hailing Mary’s
Hailed you, got the door and slid on in
Told me you were good a fortune telling
Said too much, threw the towel in

Paid for my ride

Told him we could take the long way
Held on to everything he said
Wanted insight or an answer
Pointed the rear-view at my head

All in all, what does it mean?

Freeky People Free Download + Lyrics

Posted 27 Jun 2010 in Home Bottom,Music,News & Updates

We have posted special handwritten lyrics to Freeky People on the tracklisting HERE:

We are the freeky people that make the world go around
We take the stuck up posers and status-quosers and we burn them in the ground

I knew a girl, she had telepathic dreams
She saw things they didn’t want her to see
So she turned away, looked to the sky
And then she said “fuck it i’m gonna let my freek flag fly” because

This is the time of our lives (you freeky people!)
Let out the freek inside (get freeky, people!)

I knew a boy, wanted to be free
So he watched his father to learn how not to be
You can’t change the system but you can change inside
I’ve got a new religion, it’s called “no more lies”

Give it up, give it up, let it out and live it up
